The problem

Tesla thought of everything. Except email.

How it works

Set up in the car park. Done before you pull out.

  1. 01

    Open turnmail.com

In your Tesla's browser. There's nothing to install and your phone stays in your pocket.

  2. 02

    Connect your inboxes

Outlook and Microsoft 365 with your Microsoft sign-in. Gmail and other IMAP accounts with an app password.

  3. 03

    Drive

New mail pops up on screen. Turn on Drive Mode and your unread mail is read aloud, so your eyes stay on the road.

Drive Mode

Eyes on the road. Ears on your inbox.

Tap Driving Mode before you pull away and Turnmail reads your unread email aloud: who each email is from, when it arrived, the subject and how it starts. Enough to know what's arrived, and whether it can wait.

  • Large, simple controls: stop, skip and replay
  • One mailbox or all of them
  • Plays through your Tesla's speakers
How Drive Mode works

Unified inbox

Three businesses. Four inboxes. One screen.

Connect every account you use and read them together, or one at a time. Each mailbox gets its own colour and nickname, so you always know which hat you're wearing.

  • Unlimited accounts on one plan
  • Outlook, Microsoft 365, Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, AOL and any IMAP
  • Reply, forward and open attachments when parked

Notifications

Never miss what matters.

New mail pops up on screen with the sender and subject, so you can see at a glance whether it's the one you've been waiting for.

  • Microsoft 365 and Outlook: near real time
  • Gmail and IMAP: checked every 5 minutes
  • Optional notification sound

Compatibility

Works on every Tesla with a browser.

Turnmail runs in your Tesla's built-in browser, so it works on older Intel cars as well as newer AMD Ryzen ones. Nothing to install, and no phone needed. Tesla's browser works over Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot on any car, and over the car's own mobile data with Premium Connectivity.

Security that's actually built

Encrypted at rest. Deleted after 60 days.

Your email's subject, sender, recipients and body are encrypted with AES-256 on our servers, and anything older than 60 days is deleted automatically unless you flag it. Microsoft accounts connect with Microsoft sign-in, so we never see that password, and every new device has to be confirmed with a code.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is there an app to check Outlook email on a Tesla?

Yes. Turnmail puts Outlook, Microsoft 365, Gmail and other IMAP email on your Tesla's touchscreen, in one unified inbox, with new mail popping up as it lands and Drive Mode reading your unread mail aloud. There's nothing to install: Turnmail runs in your Tesla's built-in browser.

Which email accounts does Turnmail support?

Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live and Microsoft 365 work or school accounts connect with your Microsoft sign-in, so Turnmail never sees your Microsoft password. Gmail works today over IMAP with a Google app password (this needs 2-Step Verification turned on). One-click Google sign-in is coming soon. Any other IMAP mailbox works too. iCloud, Yahoo, AOL, Fastmail, Zoho and Outlook.com are set up automatically from your email address; for anything else you can enter the server settings yourself.

How quickly do new emails show up?

Microsoft 365 and Outlook accounts update in near real time. Gmail and other IMAP accounts are checked every 5 minutes. A pop-up shows the sender and subject of each new email.

What does Drive Mode do?

Drive Mode reads your unread email aloud: who each email is from, when it arrived, the subject and how it starts. One natural-sounding British English voice, played through your Tesla's speakers. Use the screen only when parked.

Can I reply to emails from my Tesla?

Yes. Read, reply, reply all, forward and compose new email. Do it while you're parked or charging.

Do I need my phone?

No. There's nothing to install: Turnmail runs in your Tesla's built-in browser. Your phone can stay in your pocket.

Which Teslas does it work on?

Every Tesla with a web browser: Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, Cybertruck, on both Intel and AMD hardware.

Is my email secure?

Yes. Your email's subject, sender, recipients and body are encrypted at rest with AES-256, everything travels over HTTPS / TLS, and stored mail is deleted automatically after 60 days unless you flag it. Microsoft accounts use Microsoft sign-in, so we never see that password.

How much does Turnmail cost?

£9.99 a month in the UK or $12.99 a month in the US, with unlimited mailboxes included. Start with a free 7-day trial; no credit card is needed.

Why we built it
